Damien Nurre

Operating Partner / Founder

For the past 22 years, Damien has worked in the recreation hospitality industry as a fly fishing guide, upland hunting guide, fly fishing outfitter, upland hunting preserve owner, lodge owner, adventure travel agent, and international lodge manager. Damien has consistently demonstrated the ability to create, grow, and sell hospitality businesses.

Armed with a unique understanding of digital marketing, strategic partnerships, and logistical management, Damien's vision for a high quality hunting, fishing, and lodging business was realized when he built Deep Canyon Outfitters, a successful guide business in Central Oregon. As owner and manager Damien navigated state and county requirements to secure the first conditional use permit for a private hunting preserve and guest ranch in Deschutes County.

In 2012 and 2015 DCO was named “Orvis Endorsed Expedition of the Year”. In 2014, Damien sold the hunting and lodging portions of the business. In 2016, he sold the fly fishing guide service.  In less than a decade DCO netted an increase in value of 580%.

Today, Damien’s attention is focused primarily in Belize, where he oversees all fishing products - operations, sales and marketing, development, and quality control - for Muy’ono Management, the largest portfolio of resorts and hospitality businesses in Belize. In this position, he operates as the General Manager of Blue Horizon Fly Fishing Lodge, enacting his personal vision for what makes a successful fly fishing lodge. He also oversees all sales and marketing of the fishing program at Copal Tree Lodge, Thatch Caye, and the other Muy’ono Resorts. As a compliment to his role at Muy’ono, he also helps manage the sales for Garbutt’s Fly Fishing Lodge in Punta Gorda Belize.

Ken Clarke

Culinary Project Manager

Even in Ken's early days growing up on Long Island New York, food and creating memorable meals consumed his time.  When he turned eighteen, he threw a dart at the US map and wherever it landed he would make his home. It landed on Sisters, OR. So, he packed his bags and made the journey West.

Ken quickly fell into the groove in Sisters, fishing the Metolius River during the day and working the kitchen at The Lodge Restaurant at Black Butte Ranch. He quickly graduated his way to the top of the kitchen. As his notoriety grew, he was recruited to become Executive Chef at Han's Restaurant in Bend, OR. There, he perfected his methods and menus.  He also developed a refined palate tuned to create mouth-watering pastries and other desserts. Ken then earned a PhD in restaurant and kitchen management as a critical team member at the top restaurant of DC Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ. Upon returning to Bend, he worked with Damien to develop both the remote camp dining experiences and lodge dining at Deep Canyon Outfitters and Lodge.

Today, when he’s not consulting C4 Outdoor clientele on efficient and practical ways to net the most out of any kitchen, he’s the owner and Head Chef of Cascade Catering in Bend.
